This is a beautiful memorial in a very appropriate location. It was emotional seeing the sailor names and ship history on the plinthes, an essential part of the memorial. The seagulls and the reason…Full review by 399JohnN

I'm not sure what sort of accommodation you are looking for but ( not joking ) I'd look at the Trip advisor top 10 accommodation list . Most of the accom in Geraldton are good - not like the Gold Coast but comfortable. Geraldton is not a big town and the Memorial is easy to get to from anywhere in town. Good Luck.

I'm coming in from a cruise ship for a few hours and would love to do the free tour of the HMAS Sydney. Obviously I won't have a car but is there somewhere near to the port to join in on a free tour that takes you there or is it best to take a taxi and find your own way there and hopefully there will be a tour guide up at the memorial that you can join in with? Thanks in advance

We walked from the port to the memorial it was not too far and not too difficult. There are tours for a donation once you get to the top. I found it well worth the visit. I would also like to add the locals at Geraldton were well organised and very obliging. They had organised a shuttle service and locals scattered around the town to help us. I have very fond memories of my visit to Geraldton

Hi Kevin, From the townsite in Geraldton it's a fair walk and uphill, so driving there or taking the local bus would be preferable. You'll be able to see it from almost anywhere in town and there's lots of signage. The actual address is at the top of Gummer Street and it's easy to find. Once there you'll be glad you went there, as it's a great site to visit for many different reasons.
